The Day the Crayons Quit is a fantastic story written by Drew Daywalt and beautifully illustrated by Oliver Jeffers. It is aimed at 3-7 year olds and I was recently sent a free copy in return for an honest review.
Imagine as a small child you open up your box of crayons only to find that they've all gone and have been replaced with a pile of letters addressed to you! Well that's exactly what happened to poor Duncan.
Each crayon has left Duncan a note explaining why they aren't there, and it is down to Duncan to figure out how to make his crayons happy again. Who'd have ever thought that there could be jealousy between crayon colours?
Despite me being 37yrs old (big kid, I know!), I seriously enjoyed reading this book and absolutely loved the illustrations. Each page shows a picture and a letter written by the corresponding crayon ...
...and really made me think! We're probably all guilty of neglecting certain crayon colours as we all have our faves, but who'd have thought they'd ever get together and make a run for it? lol
My own daughters aged 18 and 16 also loved this book, as did my 4 year old niece, so I highly recommend you check it out if you haven't already. It's long enough to be interesting, but short enough to hold attention and the end is fab!!
The Day the Crayons Quit is available to buy from Amazon.co.uk for £10.99 (hardback copy).
I have hardback copies of this fantastic book to giveaway to 2 of my lucky readers! Simply follow the Rafflecopter instructions and keep your fingers crossed ;)
